Most Christians know God only as Jehovah or Jesus, that is, God the Father who is the male image of God. However, from Genesis 1, the beginning of the Bible, the word Elohim<\/i>, which refers to God as a plural, appears. It means that there is not one God the Father, but two or more Gods.<\/p>\n
It is very essential to know God correctly; because the knowledge of God is the greatest wisdom and understanding, which salvation depends on (Pr 9:10; Jn 17:3). That is why the Bible says that all believers should \u201cpress on\u201d to know God (Hos 6:3). Let\u2019s find out who God Elohim is in the Bible in order for us to be saved.<\/p>\n
The Old Testament, which was written by the prophets who were moved by the Holy Spirit, described God in the plural form, not the singular form. In the original Hebrew Bible, God was mostly recorded as Elohim<\/i> [Gods], which is a plural form of El<\/i> or Eloah<\/i> [God]. The word Elohim<\/i> appears about 2,500 times throughout the Old Testament. From the viewpoint of the common sense that God is the only Father, it would be a big error.<\/p>\n
The Bible is a book that testifies about God the Savior (Jn 5:39). When God is expressed in the plural form in the Bible, it means that God is not one but two or more.<\/p>\n
\nGod [Elohim] said, \u201cLet us make man in our image, in our likeness . . . \u201d\nGe 1:26<\/small>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
In the book of Genesis, God who created the heavens and the earth in the beginning was described as Elohim<\/i>, and Elohim<\/i> said, \u201cLet us make men.\u201d If we think that God is only the Father, it is difficult to understand this verse; because God should have said, \u201cI will make man in my image, in my likeness.\u201d So, \u201cThis passage has long been a puzzle for interpreters of the Bible\u201d (Mysteries of the Bible<\/i>, Reader\u2019s Digest Association Inc., p. 21).<\/p>\n
If we let go of our fixed idea that there is only God the Father and look at the records of the Bible as they are, we can easily find the answer to this puzzle.<\/p>\n
\nSo God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.\nGe 1:27<\/small>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
God, who referred to Himself \u201cus,\u201d created man in His image and likeness. Then, male and female were created. This means that God exists as both male and female images. Mankind has called the male image of God the Father<\/i>. Then, what should we call the female image of God? We should call Her the Mother<\/i>. God Elohim, who created all things, is two: God the Father and God the Mother.<\/p>\n
God Elohim Worked Together Since the Creation<\/h2>\n
In many verses, we can see God working together, saying, \u201cLet us.\u201d Elohim God the Father and God the Mother have been carrying out the work of redemption together from the Creation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\nThe LORD said, \u201cIf as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.\u201d So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel\u2014because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.\nGe 11:6\u20139<\/small>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
When the descendants of Noah<\/a> were building the Tower of Babel, God said, \u201cLet us go down and confuse their language.\u201d In verse 9, it is said that the LORD God confused the language. This means that although the name of God the Father was written as a representative, God the Father and God the Mother stopped the work of building the Tower of Babel together. <\/p>\n
God the Father and God the Mother also appointed a prophet and sent him together.<\/p>\n
\nThen I heard the voice of the Lord saying, \u201cWhom shall I send? And who will go for us?\u201d And I said, \u201cHere am I. Send me!\u201d\nIsa 6:8<\/small>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Here, the \u201cvoice of the Lord\u201d is the voice of God. However, God did not say, \u201cWho will go for me?\u201d but \u201cWho will go for us?\u201d God Elohim always worked together when He created all things, stopped the work of building the Tower of Babel, sent a prophet, and so on.<\/p>\n
God the Father Is the Representative of Elohim<\/h2>\n
When we look at Adam and Eve<\/a>, who were created in the image and likeness of God, we can correctly understand God Elohim. It is because Adam and Eve are the copy<\/i> of God who is the original<\/i>. Adam and Eve are two separate people, but the Bible sometimes describes them as one. <\/p>\n
\nTherefore, just as sin entered the world through one man . . . Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam . . . For if the many died by the trespass of the one man . . .\nRo 5:12\u201315<\/small>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Here, the \u201ctrespass of the one man\u201d indicates Adam\u2019s sin. According to the book of Genesis, it was not Adam who sinned first, but Eve (Ge 3:6). So it should have been written like \u201cthe trespass of the one woman Eve<\/i> or the trespass of the two people<\/i>. However, the Bible only mentioned the name of Adam as the representative. This means that Adam and Eve are regarded as one person (Ge 2:22\u201324).<\/p>\n
It is the same with God Elohim who is the original<\/i> of Adam and Eve. Although God exists as two\u2014God the Father and God the Mother, we can say that God is one. The Bible says as if Adam did alone even though Adam and Eve, two people, did something together. In this way, it says that God the Father did alone about the things that God the Father and Mother did together. <\/p>\n
Why They Do Not Know God Elohim<\/h2>\n
Many people claim to believe in God, but it is hard to find those who believe in God Elohim–God the Father and God the Mother. It is because they are not in the truth of the New Covenant. The Bible prophesies that only those who keep the New Covenant will fully know God.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe time is coming,\u201d declares the LORD, \u201cwhen I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah . . . This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time . . . I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God [Elohim], and they will be my people.\u201d\nJer 31:31\u201333<\/small>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
