Second Coming Christ
Restores the New Covenant

About 2,000 years ago, Jesus came to save humankind. According to the prophecy of King David, He was baptized at the age of 30, preached the gospel of the New Covenant for 3 years, and ascended to Heaven after finishing His mission (Ac 1:6–9).

Many Christians today look up to Heaven, waiting for Jesus to come a second time on the clouds (Mt 24:30–31); however, Jesus already came a second time to this earth. He appeared in human form once again, restored the New Covenant, the truth of life that was abolished by Satan, and opened the way to salvation.

The Reason Jesus Must Come Again in the Flesh

After Jesus’ ascension, many changes occurred. Jesus prophesied that Satan would sow lawlessness into the world and Christ would not find true faith at His second coming (Lk 18:8). According to the prophecy, after the Apostolic Age, the seeds of lawlessness were sown and quickly multiplied; and the New Covenant, the truth of salvation, disappeared from the earth.

As the light of truth disappeared, the Dark Ages began. Since the Reformation in the 16th century, many biblical scholars and denominations appeared, but none of them could restore the lost truth of the New Covenant. They only insisted that their interpretation was correct. In the spiritual darkness, no one could distinguish the truth from falsehood and teach it. That is why Christ came to this earth a second time in the flesh and restored the lost truth. He appeared as the Shepherd to lead His sheep just as He did at His first coming.

“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” Jn 10:16

Second Coming Christ, the Root of David, Who Will Restore the New Covenant

Apostle John prophesied about Second Coming Christ, who would restore the truth, as the Root of David.

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals . . . I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Rev 5:1–5

It is written that the Bible would be sealed. This is a serious problem because it affects the salvation of humankind. Because of this, John wept and wept when he saw the book sealed. The book of Revelation, written by Apostle John after Jesus’ ascension, tells us about what will happen in the future (Rev 1:1). Therefore, this is a prophecy about the disappearance of the New Covenant, the truth of salvation, which Jesus established at His first coming. The Bible also prophesied that the Root of David would come and unseal the truth of the New Covenant.

According to the Bible, Jesus is the Root of David (Rev 22:16). Since Revelation 5 is a prophecy about what will happen after Jesus’ ascension, the Root of David here refers to Second Coming Christ. The Bible testifies that only Second Coming Christ will restore the truth of the New Covenant that disappeared during the Dark Ages.

Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong, who Appeared According to the Prophecies in the Bible

The sign of Second Coming Christ, who appears as the Root of David, is the everlasting covenant– the New Covenant established through the blood of Jesus (Isa 55:3; Heb 13:20; Lk 22:20). In this age, it was Ahnsahnghong who restored the New Covenant for humankind.

Not only were there prophecies of the work Jesus would do at His first coming, but there are also prophecies about what He would do at His second coming. The Bible prophesies that Second Coming Christ will appear at the ends of the earth in the east and begin the gospel work when Israel, represented by the fig tree, revives. According to this prophecy, Christ Ahnsahnghong appeared in the Republic of Korea at the ends of the earth in the east. In 1948 when Israel’s independence was miraculously restored, He was baptized at the age of 30 and began the gospel work.

Christ Ahnsahnghong preached about the Passover, the core of the New Covenant, which had not been kept for a long time after Satan abolished it. He also completely restored the Seven Feasts in Three Times, fulfilling the prophecy of rebuilding spiritual Zion. In 1964, He officially founded the Church of God, walked the path of the gospel for 37 years, and returned to Heaven in 1985 to fulfill the prophecy of King David. Christ Ahnsahnghong lived His entire life according to the prophecies of the Bible.

The Sacrifice of Second Coming Christ and the Church of God

Two thousand years ago, when God came to this earth in the flesh, people did not receive Him (Jn 1:1–11, 14). Rather than paying attention to Jesus as He fulfilled the prophecies in the Bible and taught the truth of life, they slandered Him without hesitation and said, “You, a mere man, claim to be God?” They looked down on Him, calling Him the carpenter’s son, and rejected Him because of His background and environment (Jn 10:33; Mt 13:54–57). Eventually, they nailed Jesus to the cross. Even when Jesus was resurrected, the chief priests bribed the soldiers to spread false rumors about His resurrection (Mt 28:11–15).

In the Age of the Holy Spirit, when Jesus came again, the situation was not much different. Although He shone the light of the truth over the world that was in spiritual darkness, many people did not receive Him but instead slandered Him. Despite this, Christ Ahnsahnghong, the Second Coming Jesus, devoted Himself to the gospel work for 37 years to restore the truth of the New Covenant. At that time, the entire land of Korea was devastated and the people were poor after going through the Japanese occupation and the Korean War. Despite such difficulties, Christ Ahnsahnghong continued to preach the gospel of the New Covenant.

Because of His sacrifice and love, now we can go to Zion, the refuge of salvation. The Church of God, established by Christ Ahnsahnghong, is the true church that has fully inherited the faith of the early Church. The Church leads the world to the glory of God Elohim and the light of the truth of the New Covenant.

In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.Mic 4:1–2
