Jesus’ second coming in the clouds means that He appears again in human form.
Jesus Came in the Clouds at His First Coming
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. . . . He was given authority, glory and sovereign power.” Da 7:13–14
The Old Testament prophesied that Christ would come with the clouds of heaven. Actually, Jesus Christ came in the human form through the body of Mary, not with the clouds of heaven. The prophecy that He would come in the clouds meant that He would come in the flesh. As clouds hide the intense sunlight, so He appeared in the flesh, hiding the glory of God.
Jesus’ Second Coming in Clouds
“At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Lk 21:27–28
Jesus said that He would come again in a cloud. Since the Bible prophesies that Jesus comes in the clouds both times, it is not true that He comes once in the flesh and another time in physical clouds. In order for His disciples to understand His second coming easily, Jesus used the same expression as the prophecy about His first coming. Therefore, the prophecy that Jesus will come again in the clouds means that He will appear again in the flesh.
