Since God leads the work of salvation in a different name in each age, believers should pray in the name of the Savior in their age. The name of the Savior in this age is Ahnsahnghong.
In Whose Name Did God’s People Pray in the Age of the Father and of the Son?
Today, most Christians pray in the name of Jesus. Then, in whose name did Moses and David pray before Jesus came? God’s people did not always pray in the name of Jesus.
Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, save me!” Ps 116:4
In the Age of the Father, they prayed in the name of the LORD [Jehovah]. In the Age of the Son, however, Jesus taught His people to pray in His name, not in Jehovah’s name.
“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” Jn 16:24
The phrase, “Until now, you have not asked for anything in my name,” means that the disciples had prayed in the name of Jehovah until then. From then on, however, Jesus told them to pray in His name. It is because the Age of the Father changed to the Age of the Son, and the name of the Savior changed from Jehovah to Jesus (Ac 4:11–12). If the disciples had insisted on praying in the name of Jehovah against Jesus’ teaching, their prayer would not have been answered.
In Whose Name Should We Pray in This Age, Then?
Today is neither the Age of the Father nor the Age of the Son. It is the Age of the Holy Spirit, when Christ was prophesied to appear as the Holy Spirit (cf. Rev 22:17; 19:7). God’s people today should pray in the name of the Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit. The Bible prophesies that the name of the Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit is the name of the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19) and the new name of Jesus.
“Him who overcomes . . . I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.” Rev 3:12
Jesus said that He would give His people His new name. Here, Jesus’ new name indicates the name of Second Coming Jesus (Rev 2:17; 1 Pe 2:4). Therefore, God’s people living in the Age of the Holy Spirit must know the name of Second Coming Jesus, believe and pray in that name.
Ahnsahnghong is the Christ who came a second time to save humankind in this age according to all the prophecies of the Bible. The Church of God believes in Ahnsahnghong the Christ who came a second time and follows Him. Therefore, the Church of God members pray in the name of Ahnsahnghong, the new name of Jesus, as the Bible teaches.
